Who can join?

Membership of the EL is open to all members of the legal profession, including attorneys, counsellors, solicitors, barristers, advocates, members of the judiciary, and full time professors and students of law.

How long does the membership year last?

Membership runs from 1 January to 31 December each year.

Those joining after 1 September in a given year will receive member benefits for the remainder of that calendar year at no extra cost, that’s up to 16 months membership for the price of 12, if membership is paid at the time of joining.

What do I get as a member?

European Legal membership is designed to serve lawyers from all six countries of the Western Balkans to remove themselves from a passive professional behaviour and mindset and get involved into restoring and re-establishing the main values and principles of the legal profession. It provides them the chance to design their professional future and enrich their experiences by getting involved in different activities and events directly from the preparation stage. Moreover lawyers are provided with the opportunity to not only do backstage work, but also be recognized and evaluated for their achievements by giving them the opportunity to present, write, recommend, conclude, analyse, all their finding and suggestions.

Do I need to provide proof of qualifications?

Normally a copy of your CV is the only proof required for becoming a member.

How long do I need to wait before I can get my membership card?

Your membership card will be sent within a month of processing your application form.

How do I pay?

You can pay online by credit or debit card, or you can download your invoice and pay by bank transfer. You can also pay Cash.

Will I be asked to renew?

Yes, we will send renewal notices in January of each year to remind you that it is time to renew your subscription.

Do I get a discount if I register more than one lawyer from the same firm?

Yes. You are provided with a 20% discount in such cases. However, if a significant number of lawyers from your firm wish to become members of EL, your firm may want to consider joining as a Group Member firm. For further details please see

Are any conferences included in the membership price?

No, you are not invited to any free conferences as part of your membership package. But, as a member, you can receive a significant discount on the conference fees on a national and regional level.

How do I find out my IBA membership number?

Your membership number will be sent to you in the welcome email. It will also be displayed on your membership card. However, if you have further questions on that, or if your card is stolen, please send an email to europeanlegal@legislationnet.com

How do I cancel my membership?

If for any reason you wish to cancel your EL membership, please e-mail us at europeanlegal@legislationnet.com

After joining, the following levels of refund will be made on the membership fee paid:

  • Up to 30 days – full refund
  • 31-90 days – refund minus 25% administration charge
  • Over 90 days – no refund

NB. If you have registered for a conference at the Member rate, you are not eligible for a refund.
